porch hair men's edition

styling mens hair is the best because it can make for the craziest transformations. i am a firm believer in a good haircut that makes for an easy and effortless style, but it can take a bit of moving the hair around to make it do exactly what you want.

this was Drew before my hands grazed his hair. truth of the matter is, the first step to any good hairdo is making sure your fly is up.

using a light hold hairspray like L'oreal Elnett or Bumble and bumble's Does It All
will help move and keep the hair where you place it while still being able
to move your hands through it.  it is also easier to disperse in the hair than a gel.

on a mens style you want to remove width on the sides so we
overdirected drew's hair behind his ear and hairsprayed it.
(manipulating the hair with the pads of your fingers will allow you
to control it better without messing up parts you might already like)

we created a side part and took the hair from his part back and then over.

his fly is up and he is ready to go

porch hair take 1

When the weather is hot no one wants to spend time on their hair. Have you ever washed your hair and by the time you were done blow drying you were sweating? Ha oh no one else, only me? But really. Let's talk some styling post airdry...

here was abby no product airdry. she looks great but we wanted to spruce her up bit.

first we trimmed some bangsies

then we took her hair into four large sections, used texture cream
(a sea salt spray would work too)
emulsified product in hands and apply to each section evenly.
we took a section at a time and twist the hair away from her face.
once the top half of the hair is twisted pinch the hair and push up the section with your fingers
do the same to the bottom half of the section.

continue doing this to all 4 sections until all the hair
is curled.  always twist away from the face. and shake your head
about to give it a lived in look.

and tadaaa

then after we did a fun pony for abby.
whenever i start doing her hair I can't stop...
we backcombed her hair in the crown, pulled it back using
the mason pearson brush
